About

Originally from the Detroit area, Veronica now resides near Chicago.  Having both classical and contemporary training in her background, Veronica's music combines technical aptitude with creative freedom.  She is a jazz musician who also dabbles in blues, R&B, and funk when writing her own songs.  Veronica finds it challenging and rewarding to master the balance of self-accompanying while singing.  Veronica likes to build melodies and storytelling around unique vocal phrasing, rhyme schemes, and metaphors.  She believes it is important to use music as a tool to inspire a sense of play, wonder, and authenticity to all her listeners.

In addition to performing in the Chicagoland area as a soloist and in small groups, Veronica has performed with the Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre, at Taste of Chicago, Friday at Hemingway's, and at the Juneteenth Film Festival in Dallas, Texas.  Veronica's jazz EP has been featured on WDCB's "The Real Deal" with Orbert Davis.  She is also member of the band Groove Witness, where Veronica performs her originals with a funk twist.  Last but not least, Veronica has experience as a music educator through the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic.  You can view and listen to Veronica's CDs on the Solo and Band pages.
